🌱 It’s about Growth.

My favorite part about working with coils is watching a project grow over time! In this class I will show you how to make a mug, but these coiling techniques can be used to make any project you dream up!

Meet your Teacher

Hi, my name is Mia Mueller. I am a ceramic artist and a teacher living in Germany. I founded Pottery to the People as a community studio in Berlin in 2019, teaching over a thousand students and mentoring over 100 members. Since COVID, I have expanded into the digital world!

For this class, I sought to break ceramics down to it’s MOST basic. What could be the first project of someone who’s never touched clay before? In this class, I will walk you through step-by-step how to make a mug, but also pepper in some basic knowledge of ceramics along the way so that you’ll leave this project with a lot more confident.

Come get your hands dirty with me!

This class is for you if:

  • are new to ceramics and not sure where to start

  • maybe you’ve done some slab-building, but are curious about coil building

  • are feeling insecure about the process of making ceramics and want a good overview of the whole process

  • or maybe you have worked with clay before, but the pottery didn’t turn out how you wanted

  • have access to clay & a kiln for firing OR are happy applying these techniques to alternative clay such as air-dry or polymer clay

This class is NOT for you if:

  • you already understand the steps to coil building and are looking for something more advanced. This class is designed for beginners.

  • you are looking for a class on wheel throwing, slab building, or any other technique. This class only covers coil building (and a small section on glazing with paint-on glazes).
